Meeting Notes: Joe Wilkinson

Meeting notes
Items discussed:
  • Narrative
  • Setting of the video
  • Iconography
Settings: Ishmael suggests that we should use derelict London to shoot our video on, this included such things as abounded train/tube stations, warehouses and unused streets early in the morning to gain a cool effect. whereas Eduardo suggests using central London for the majority of the music video, again in the early morning. meaning we could use such icons such as the London Eye and Parliament buildings. We have however decided to use a combination of these two ideas to show a contrast between the band and the man on the run.

Narrative: We have all settled on having a narrative and the band performing in the music video, we have decided to have 2/3rd s of the video as the band performing as an indie video primarily focus's on the band and the narrative will be there to try to compliment the bands performance. As the songs message is about being on the run government, out narrative is going to be simple. The front man of the band will be being chased by government officials. Although we want a solid, understandable narrative we have decided to concentrate more on interesting camera shots that are going to engage the audience.

Iconography: After watching many videos of the same genre, we've all agreed on certain objects that need to be in the video. Primarily is the instruments that need to be seen being playing by all the band members are the most important thing, as in every video we viewed the band were always seen performing  Also as Eduardo pointed out, as the songs focus is about the government, government buildings in London will be perfect for us to convey the message of the song, also these buildings will be useful for an establishing shot.
